The opportunity to explore Louisiana all at once may be further on down the road, but I'm going to take the opportunity to explore it a little at a time.
The destination was North two weeks ago and East last week. This weekend, we're goin' out West. Since time may not be on my side this trip, I'm jumping on Interstate 10 and going to the heart of Acadiana. I never realized what that term meant but the internet tells me it's 22 parishes of Cajun country known for gumbo, boudin, sauce piquante, crawfish, jambalaya and dedicated to the fais-do-do. This made me wonder if I had been living in Acadiana all this time since I moved to Baton Rouge. According to the map, where I live missed it by one parish line.
The occasion for the journey is a visit with Lin’s brother and her friend, Emily, who was present the night we got engaged. But that’s not going to stop me from finding one place for a good time if I ever get stuck there for a day or so. Or from bringing home a few pics, hopefully a story and a belly full of beer and crawfish.
