The Going
As Baton Rouge traffic parted and highway 61 north spread-eagle before me, the sun tucked itself away for the night making this a dark trip fast. A nocturnal blanket hid those things I wanted to seek out and find this time around and instead of eyeing interesting places to park and walk, I dropped a little Dylan into the CD player and kept it spining until I reached Jacob's door.
Along the way I saw very little other than the road's own dotted line which I signed from the right lane. This trip had it's own agenda and to be followed correctly, I would never merge left to pass, but drift along behind those who were drifting along. Other than the Jesus billboard famous only to my mind, signs of life were few. Until I got to Natchez. I took the exit for the Mississippi River Bridge and made the curve down the hill and towards the river, when I saw something big, bright and green. And as the crest of the oncoming hill broke, there were other big things spinning and flashing and turning and churning breaking the silence between, track 4, "Don't Think Twice," and track 5, "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue." Natchez on the Hill had a fair this night that looked as good a place as any to stop. And as I rolled on by, this is the pic I made away with. I had someplace to be tonight and still a few more hours to go.
